Meet Roosevelt, our trusty steed. He’s our rough on the outside, beautiful on the inside 144″ wheelbase Sprinter van. Roosevelt was previously a construction van and took his fair share of dings and dents prior to getting a remake and remodel. This is a conversion built out by Willa, myself, and two professional carpenters- one of whom was a professional set designer in LA for 30 years (Willa’s step-dad who is truly a wizard when it comes to creating things).  After living in our van full-time and traveling all over the western half of the united states, we’ve hunkered down in San Francisco for a bit and are ready to start designing our next adventure mobile.

Some highlights:
Our conversion has plenty of windows providing ample natural light, even on a cloudy day. For each window, there are custom made window shades that also insulate the van. The bed is a convertible dining table/ bed. The dinette table drops down, the backrest cushions are placed in between the seat cushions, and viola! you have a memory foam bed. Bench tops fold up providing ample storage for clothes, gear, the van’s battery bank, and security safe.

All cabinets are IKEA made with butcherblock countertops customized to fit the van layout. Wall shelves line one side of the van acting as a library, pantry, and storage for cookware/dinnerware.

One perk of our build is that it comes with a separate bathroom! This bathroom is waterproof and can be used as a shower in addition to a private area to take care of nature’s business. The bathroom floor is has custom-made shower pan that drains to a tank mounted under our van. Our floors and ceiling are Pergo hardwood floor and look amazing (even when a bit dusty!). To curve with the walls of the van, we used tongue and groove paneling giving it a bit of a marine feel. The walls, floor, and ceiling were insulated with a combination of high-density foamboard, recycled denim insulation, and reflectix. Wheel wells, walls, and cab floor were deadened with Noico sound deadening mats.

For additional storage, we added a bulkhead shelf above the cab and there is an ottoman behind the passenger seat to lengthen our sleeping area. If you are under 6 feet, you shouldn’t need it. There’s room for a shortboard surfboard, skis, or a snowboard behind the driver seat.

Our Renogy Solar panels are mounted to the roof with a custom made mounting system.  This mounting system attaches directly to the factory roof rails and can be reconfigured or moved if needed (should you want to add a roof rack, storage box, or additional ceiling fan).

Asking price: $36,000 or  best offer

Mileage: 269k

The engine was rebuilt by Custom MB Sprinters in Portland, OR (a whole lot of parts were replaced). It has 269k miles on it currently though diesel Mercedes engines can go for over half a million or more.

One thing we haven’t invested in is the transmission. It has the fabled RSN (rumble strip noise) and likely will need some transmission work in the future though we just put 15K miles on the van (going over the tallest mountains in the nation and on the fastest freeways) and the RSN was present the whole time.

We’re asking $36,000 OBO. (No trades). If you’re looking for an adventure mobile for full-time living, weekend fun, and everything in between, make us an offer.

Willing to deliver locally.
